Valentine’s day, a chaotic dance?

I woke up today and seeing on my social networks all kinds of refreshing lines about love, mainly romantic.

.

It is a lovely change and contemplation for my day, taking a rest from the hardships i read on or work on. This «lightness » feels good and makes me smile.

.

Few days ago, a Swiss journal asked to reply to a poll if we were for or against the celebration of Valentine's Day….Sounds such futile question!?

.

However it made me think about it. This day has become a bit extravagant in terms of gifts, romantic gestures, and grand displays of affection (and believe me: i love extravagance being the romantic « fleur bleue » that I am). However, we seem often overlook the deeper complexities of love & partnership.

.

What's missing from our narrative is the acknowledgment of the challenges, the growth, and the necessary effort that goes into building and sustaining meaningful relationships. We celebrate only the beginning of relationships, with no recognition or support for the struggles and hardships that may follow let alone the reality that relationships end.

.

Our collective obsession with the idealized, fairytale version of love blinds us to the reality that relationships are nuanced, multifaceted, and sometimes messy.

.

We need to shift our focus from the superficial trappings of romance to the substantive work of building strong, resilient connections.

.

It's time for a radical shift—a reimagining of Valentine's Day and a reevaluation of our priorities in relationships. Let’s celebrate love in a way that honors its true essence—a journey of growth, learning, and mutual support.

.

Let us meet the mess in being in a relationship and for not giving up.

.

Let’s celebrate our courage (it really takes courage at times not to run away!) and our mistakes and try to forgive the hurt of our partners.

.

Let's say yes to vulnerability and, empathy in our relationships.

.

Let's recognize that love is not glamorous—it's messy, bittersweet, and sometimes challenging. And it takes work.

.

It is a dance, graceful at times and such a ugly dance at times, let’s be radically honest here.

.

This Valentine's Day, let's celebrate love in all its complexity and depth. Let's embrace the imperfections, the struggles, and the growth that come with genuine connection.

.

It's time to redefine what Love means to us and to build relationships that are grounded in authenticity, resilience, and mutual respect. Not an inaccessible notion of what romantic love is.

.

Love, relationships, connection, and vulnerability are universal experiences. We all navigate the complexities of human connection with a myriad of people, places, and things, each presenting its own set of challenges—from ambivalence and shifting feelings to moments of dissonance and growth that test us at our core.

.

It is messy. And it is glory. It is authentic. This is what i will celebrate. ❤️🩵❤️🩵
